As soon as I saw this, I immediately thought that it looked like Starry Night minus the stars and the village ... *depleted* of light and humanity.
I see that one of your favorite styles of art is post-impressionism. I wonder if perhaps you were inspired by Starry Night, at least on a subconscious level.
